I do quite a lot of boxing, not to actually box, I use it to get my hand speed up. I want to start fighting in Muay Thai and really need to get my and speed up.
Although the lad who I train with, and is effectively my coach for both Muay Thai and Boxing is about to turn pro in boxing him and his coach have said I should have a go at amateur so I might give it a go. it's not really my thing though.

Don't do MMA, it's a rip off. Do Muay Thai.

No, different people do Martial Arts for different reasons. I do it myself for self defence and fitness.
Was going to say if you wanted self defence out of it I wouldn't really go for Taekwondo (sp?)
