Ye i know i know. but i was just wondering. cus when i read all about this, it sounded like it wasent that easy to do the skins.. so i was just wondering if we would keep it like it is or if.. in the future it will be some kind of MIR skin and donator skin and stuff..?

Suffice to say making new custom models can be pretty difficult and re-skinning the default ones isn't particularly easy. In the future if we release a set of donator skins they may be pre-made custom models (you can get lots of things e.g. lara croft, predator, terminator, robocop, mario, starfox, bugs bunny, solid snake, master-chief etc) or some more custom-made re-skins or a mixture of the two. Atm, the plan is to see how well these admin skins are received and if there isn't a major effect on server performance or traffic (due to d/l on first connect) we'll add another batch of custom skins just for donators.

Lot's of things have to be taken into account when choosing the right models, apart from just how good they look. Things like file size, how easy it is to code for the model changer, physical size in game, the ability to distinguish if T or CT etc.

Skins shouldn't affect hitboxes in any way.

With Valve releasing another update meaning I had to shut-down all the servers, it seemed a suitable time to install the admin skin files. I've now done this and they should be working.

To access the skins in game type !models into chat. This will bring up a menu, follow the logical steps to pick the skins. T's can unsurprisingly only wear the T skin and CT's can only wear the CT skin. If you pick the one for the opposite team it just won't work (no doubt some of you will try anyway). Once you've picked your skin, you'll get a text confirmation in chat stating it's been set, but it won't actually appear until the next round. E.g. If you pick your skin while dead when the next round starts you'll be wearing it. If you decide you want to remove the skins, follow the menu and pick the option "none", again it won't disappear until next round.

The menu works on a variable level access system. This means that anyone can bring up the menu but only people who have been assigned appropriate permissions can actually set themselves the skins. All INC members have access to the first few levels but the normal public don't, so they can't wear the skins. Donators have already been given access to higher levels but currently there are no extra available skins. In the future if/when we put some on, you'll be able to access them using the same method.

Anybody who hasn't already installed the skins will download the files on first connect to an INC server. This should take roughly 30 seconds and only needs to be done once.

If you can't or don't understand it just join a server and it will download the files for you. It's just less convenient for us, as it takes another slot on the fastmaps server when someone who doesnt come to the forum needs the files. Suffice to say you clearly don't understand the process so just go join a server and let it do it for you.

Skins are amazing; although you can choose a CT model even if you are T, and vice versa.

You can choose the model but it won't set the model. It will only give you the skin for the right team.
