Upgrade potential

Unread postby Ri-Ca » Thu Oct 27, 2016 9:57 am

I'm thinking of putting a few upgrades into my rig when I can afford the parts, but I'm not sure what things I can change for a cost effective and still powerful(er) set up. Currently I am running:

AMD FX-6350 6-core CPU
nVidia GTX-760 GPU
8GB DDR3 RAM (can't remember who its by)
430w PSU
Standard Fan cooling, no extras. Just bare bones interior.

I can run most games pretty well; Fallout 4 on Medium is smooth, ARK on Low can be tempermental (but then again its like that naturally), but recently stuff like GTA 5 after the latest update I'm getting lots of frame lag, hence why I would like to upgrade a few parts.

Hi Ri-Ca

What type of budget do you have?

Looking at your list I would say look at upgrading your GPU.

GTX 970 are around £200-£300 depending on brand. You may also have to look at upgrading your power supply. It maybe a bit low for the GPU

What type of hard drive do you have? Maybe look at a SSD. Totally worth it! I recommend the Samsung 850 EVO.

I would also look at putting as much RAM as possible.

Hope that helps! :)

Budget is roughly 200-300, and I was deffo worried about the PSU not being powerful enough.

Hard-drive wise I've got a 640GB WD HDD and a 1TB WD Blue HDD, no RAID going on so another hard-drive is on the books by the sounds.

RAM is easy to come by, 8GB is keeping me fine for the time being. but thank you for the advice! Much appreciated =D
